Job Description of the Senior Estimator

Recognize and handle changing priorities.

Lead and assist to the strategic think on the estimate.

Ensure that the project is handed over to project management as efficiently as possible. This will take place with the Senior Estimator and all necessary project management staff. At this point the estimating capacity will take on a support role in the project.

Provide leadership in completing and ensuring that all post-mortems are being carried out on the estimates to learn and better enhance  strategic plan for the next project.

Be responsible for the computerizing of the estimating procedure in a manner that will minimize the potential for error and maximize the productivity of the estimating staff.

Responsible for ensuring that quotation files are kept in order and that the proper filing system is set up for establishing file numbers, etc.

Provide leadership and assist all personnel within the business unit to ensure positive growth and that their time is being effectively used that will build success for all.

Assist in marketing and business development strategies.

Responsible for sub-trade relationship management and ensuring effective trade alliances. Be the point of contact and create a positive culture with sub trades. Sub trades are considered an effective tool and strategic partner in the estimating department.

Responsible for chairing all estimating business unit meetings. Establishing an agenda and ensuring minutes are kept.

Additional Attributes Include:  

General Contractor background, all visions

Proficiency in Timberline, Prime Bid & On Screen for takeoff’s

5+ years experience at a Senior Estimator level, Commercial builds

Lump sum jobs and Construction Management project expertise

Project team will include: Project Manager, Supervisor and Coordinator
